What is Sentimental Value?
Throughout our lives we accumulate objects and souvenirs which remind us of times gone by. They are gentle reminders of our rich family history. Without these stories being documented, items lose their sentimental value. Generations can lose the essence of their family history – who and why they are, and where they came from.
Sentimental Value offers a unique platform to preserve family history passed on through personal belongings. Specializing in preserving the sentimental value of family treasures, we categorize personal effects for gifting prior to the dissolution of an estate. Clients decide to whom they wish to give their possessions and have the opportunity to include “The Story Behind the Gifted Item”.
How do you keep track of items and beneficiaries?
Through careful estate inventory and photographic documentation, we categorize each item and designate each to your chosen beneficiary. This information is organized and presented in a bound, notarized book along with a copy on a custom thumb drive.
How do I know my photographs will be safe?
We are based in Mesa, Arizona. Wherever possible, we provide door to door collection and delivery. All services are provided in-house, so you can rest assured your treasured memories will be safe. Photographs are downloaded onto a custom thumb drive, and all originals are returned to you.
I am not planning on moving anytime soon, why is this service valuable now?
Moving can be emotionally charging no matter your age or circumstances. Planning ahead can alleviate much of the stress and questions you are faced with when a move becomes inevitable. By sorting and categorizing your personal belongings now and deciding in the comfort of your own home what you would like to take with you when you downsize gives you a sense of control. You determine when and where you want the rest to go. Through careful documentation, your wishes can be granted. Your family receives what you have gifted them along with the story behind each item. Your recipients receive gifts from you based on the sentimental value and providence instead of the appraised value. (After all, they should not be planning on selling the family heirlooms!)
My grandma has everything, can I give this service to her as a gift?
Absolutely! Creating a Living Legacy is a perfect gift for the person who has everything.
The process of sifting through, recalling the past, and travelling down Memory Lane is a gift not only to your relative, but to the future generations who will cherish these stories for years to come.
